Google’s own terms of service clearly states: “We don’t make any commitments about the content within the services . . . and will not be responsible for lost profits, revenues, or data.” (im not overly happy with this lets check for accuracy)

Its interesting to know how long Google will automatically keep data for.

Using a third party back up and recovery service can assist with:

• Rare system outages 
• Adhearance to retention policies and procedures
• Accidental or malicious deleted files, folders and emails
• Ransomware or malware attacks

Emails, documents, individual and shared folders once deleted, is automatically put into the 'trash' or 'bin' folder and stays there for 30 days. If deleted from here or its after the 30 days, it's permantly gone, unless backed up.

Either malicious or accidental, we often need to go back to  emails, even in the rare DISAPLINARY occassions.

The average length of time from data compromise to discovery is more than 140 days, yet default settings only protect 20-55 days.

Section 6 of Microsoft’s own Services Agreement states: “We recommend you regularly back up your content and data . . . using third-party apps and services.”
